Random Rants Apres Vacation
Damn Bruins! How could they lose to a depleted USC team in basketball?

Damn Republicans! Are any of them not in some ethical violation?

Damn Democrats! Do any of them have any sort of backbone?

Damn third parties! Can any of them make a decent run against the Big Two?

Damn Religious Right! Damn PC Left!

Damn, damn, damn!

Much better now. Actually I feel pretty good coming back from a micro-vacation up to the snow near Mt. Pinos. We had sub-freezing nights giving us brisk mornings to play in the snow before it melted in the late afternoon sun. We like to stay in Pine Mountain, renting a cabin, and hiking around. We used to do this sort of thing - renting cabins and cramming in a multitude - over in Lake Arrowhead and Idyllwild but Pine Mountian is somewhat closer and relatively undiscovered. Idyllwild became an art enclave of sorts and Lake Arrowhead is Lake Arrowhead.

What I couldn't figure out is how the kids could play outside in the snow wearing long-sleeve shirts and pants, get soaked through and through yet not freeze. Meanwhile I wore a down jacket inside the cabin with the heaters on full-blast and I froze. Damn old age!

The cabin had cable TV which we don't get at home. So the kids got to watch all the junk on Cartoon Network. The adults on the trip were amazed at the lack of originality. Too many of the shows were poor ripoffs in style of Ren and Stimpy, or the Rugrats. They were all just various levels of stupid. Sure, we were also comparing them to the greats, like Bugs Bunny, and these shows failed because they were porous and lacked the depth of appeal. Bugs Bunny had (and still has) generational appeal. Ed, Edd, and Eddy simply sucked for the adults. The kids glazed pretty quickly too.

We miss you Chuck Jones!!!
